Ansari appointed NSC member; Shrestha resigns

KATHMANDU, Oct 6: Samim Miyan Ansari has been appointed as a member of the National Sports Council (NSC) on Tuesday. Minister for Youth and Sports and Chairman of NSC Ganesh Tiwari Nepali appointed Ansari for the post for a maximum of four years. [break]



Ansari is affiliated to Nepal Kyokushin Budokai Kan Association. This is the first time that someone has been appointed a member of NSC on behalf of the association.



Ansari has been contributing to the sports sector since 1992. At present, he is serving the sports sector as an instructor. Ansari is scheduled to take oath of office from minister Nepali at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.



Meanwhile, NSC member Laxman Shrestha resigned from the post on Tuesday.



Shrestha submitted his resignation to Youth and Sports Minister and NSC Chairman Ganesh Nepali stating that he can not work with the new board in the NSC. Shrestha was appointed member in the quota of sports associations on July 20, 2006.



Government had appointed Hari Babu Chaudhary as member secretary and 10 others as members of NSC last month.
