The earthquake in the middle of the night led to moments of panic among the local population. Rajesh Karki from Khaptadchanna Rural Municipality-5 recounted how people hurriedly gathered in open squares during the quake, seeking safety.
This recent event follows a more powerful 6.3 magnitude earthquake that struck Bajhang on October 3. Since that significant quake, smaller aftershocks have been occurring with some frequency, as explained by Dr Subedi.
The October 3 earthquake resulted in the unfortunate loss of one life, while 20 individuals sustained injuries, and various physical structures were damaged.
