POKHARA, June 3: Tourism entrepreneurs in Pokhara celebrated the 59th Annapurna Mountaineering Day on Wednesday to mark the first ascent of Mt Annapurna.

The entrepreneurs organized a reveille Wednesday morning from Dam Side to Hallan Chowk remembering French mountaineers Mourim Herzog and Luis Lesnal who climbed the 8,091m Annapurna peak on June 3, 1950.

Only 142 persons so far have climbed the 10th tallest mountain in the world.
