SINDHUPALCHOWK, April 4: The U-16 team of All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has started the first Chautara Sanghachokgadhi Mayor Cup Football Tournament with a big 8-1 win over the home team Chautara Yuwa Club on Tuesday.
At the Chautara ground, Carlos Bakhel scored four goals in the match which helped ANFA score five in the first half. Bakhel had completed his hat-trick in the first half and was named the man-of-the-match of the opening day. He got Rs 3,000.
In order to give their team a big margin win, ANFA’s Ashok Kingring bagged a brace, while Padam Bhattarai and Sanjeev Aryal scored a goal each.
Despite conceding three goals in the second period, Chautara improved its play and also got a consolation through Ankit Raj Thala. ANFA was also benefitted by an extra man as a Chautara player was sent off in the 75th minute.
The organizers had earlier said that the winner will take home Rs 200,000, while the runner-up will bag Rs 100,000.
They said the best player and the highest goal scorer of the tournament will be prized with a 40-inch LED TV.
A total of 17 clubs including the departmental team Armed Police Force are taking part in the tournament which is being played in knockout format and will conclude on April 13.
