KATHMANDU, June 26: A working committee meeting of All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) on Friday passed the association´s statute prepared jointly by Nepal Football Association (NFA) and ANFA. [break]

The working committee meeting held in Chitwan passed the statute unanimously, paving way for an end to the three-year long dispute between the two associations. ANFA and NFA had reached a seven-point agreement in December to resolve the dispute and formed a joint statute drafting committee. World football governing body FIFA has accepted the draft statute, approving a 31-member central committee for one term. According to FIFA rules, ANFA cannot have a working committee of more than 16 members in a normal situation. ANFA spokesperson Lalit Krishna Shrestha said, “This is a very good decision. Now the football dispute in Nepal is over.”

However, NFA´s demand to include 10 representatives from B level football clubs and 5 representatives from C level football clubs in the general assembly was met only partially. “ANFA working committee meet decided to include five representatives from B level and three from C level clubs,” said chairman of the statute drafting committee Indraman Tuladhar.

He added “It´s not what we (NFA) demanded, but we accepted it as FIFA and AFC were against our demand.” Now one representative each from A level clubs, 10 representatives from all B level clubs, five representatives from all C level clubs can participate in ANFA general assembly.

Along with football clubs, one representative each from 40 district football associations, one representative each from referees, players and women players and coaches can participate in the general assembly. Till now, only A level football clubs and district football associations had the privilege.

ANFA working committee meet also endorsed the income and expenditure statements for the year 2063-64 and 2064-65. The meeting also decided to hold ANFA election in the first week of September. Two hundred football officials from across the country took part in the Chitwan meeting.
