Claiming that the issues raised by the dissidents was not heeded by the central committee, Sherpa, at a press conference organized in the capital, said that their faction is left with no option other than to boycott the meeting.
The dissident faction had earlier received an invitation from ANFA stating that a central committee meeting chaired by President Ganesh Thapa will discuss the allegations of financial irregularities involving ANFA. In reply, the dissident faction demanded that the central committee should discuss 15 other issues as well. But the faction later decided to boycott the meeting after their proposal to discuss the 15 issues were allegedly turned down by the central committee. The faction had demanded discussion on financial regulations, sponsorship agreement with American sports firm +1, analysis of goal project, and action taken by ANFA against some clubs in connection with payment dispute during the Martyrs Memorial A Division League among others things.
The revolting faction further claimed that ANFA's controversial president was not legitimate to chair the meeting as the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) and Asian Football Confederation (AFC) have not given him clean chit despite the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) keeping investigation into his case on hold.
“We will not attend tomorrow's meeting because the agenda items proposed by us have not been included for discussion. Also, financial irregularities and lack of transparency are rife in ANFA under Thapa's presidency,” said Sherpa.
