Ananya bags awards at Open Roller Sports

KATHMANDU, Feb 28: Players from Nepal managed to bag medals at the Open Roller Sports Promotional Tournament organized by Asian Roller Sports Committee at Pattaya, Thailand last week.

Players from Thailand, India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh had participated in the competition. Representing Nepal, Ananya Khadka, a third grader from Rajarshi Gurukul, managed to secure a podium position in all the categories that she had participated. She bagged two bronze medals in the categories U-9 500 meters and U-9 1,000 meter race, according to a press statement released by the school. 


Bikalpa Timilsina, from the same school, also managed to secure a third place in the U-11 1,000 meter race. Three students from Rajarshi Gurukul — Ananya Khadka, Bikalpa Timilsina and Soyal Sangam Sharma represented Nepal at the sporting event. The trio participated in the relay race as a team under the name ‘Team Nepal’ and was able to secure the second place with a silver medal.
