Amrit Science Campus tense as students clash

KATHMANDU, March 5: Lainchaur-based Amrit Science Campus (Ascol) area is tense following clashes between two student unions--All Nepal Independent Student Union Revolutionary (ANISU-R), student wing of UCPN (Maoist) and All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU), student union of CPN UML---on Monday.



Two students were injured in the clashes and police have detained ten students to contain the situation, according to DSP Dhiraj Pratap Singh, chief of Metropolitan Police Circle Kathmandu. [break]



An ANNFSU cadre Prayog Shahi was attacked and injured by ANISU-R cadres with khukuris on Sunday.



The students were holding discussion over the issue before the talks took a worst turn into clashes.



Shahi is receiving treatment at Bir Hospital.
