AmCham and CNI forge agreement to promote US investment in Nepal

KATHMANDU, Jan 3: The American Chamber of Commerce in Nepal (AmCham) and the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) have forged an agreement to collaboratively enhance the business environment between Nepal and the United States.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between AmCham and the CNI to enhance US investment and cooperation in Nepal. Rajesh Kumar Agarwal, president of the CNI, and Nirmalkaji Shrestha, president of the AmCham, signed the MoU in a program held at the secretariat of the CNI on Tuesday.

During the program, AmCham President Shrestha said that cooperation with the CNI will work effectively for the development of the country's economy by promoting American investment. Similarly, President of CNI, Agarwal said, “This collaboration will act as a bridge to connect Nepal and America commercially. He said that this collaboration will help to exchange knowledge, innovation and new cooperation, compete in the global market, attract foreign investment, and contribute to industrial development.”

According to this agreement, the two organizations will act as a point of contact between Nepalis and American entrepreneurs, provide investment information to American investors willing to invest in Nepal, cooperate in advocating policy reforms to meet mutual objectives, and conduct strategic activities to increase American investment in Nepal. The MoU highlights efforts on improving the investment and business environment for the IT sector by increasing access to market-based financial and non-financial services.
