Ambica Shrestha, owner of Dwarika’s Hotel, passes away at 92

KATHMAN DU, July 18: Ambica Shrestha, the owner of Dwarika’s Hotel in Battisputali, Kathmandu, has passed away at the age of 92.

KATHMAN DU, July 18: Ambica Shrestha, the owner of Dwarika’s Hotel in Battisputali, Kathmandu, has passed away at the age of 92. 


According to her family, she died at Mediciti Hospital in Lalitpur after suffering from pneumonia and rheumatism for the past two months. She is survived by her daughter and two grandsons.

Ambica Shrestha dedicated her life to realizing the dreams of her late husband, Dwarika Das Shrestha, by establishing Dwarika’s Hotel. Although the construction started in 1964, the hotel was officially registered in 1977.


Throughout her life, she received numerous prestigious awards. Shrestha spent five decades focusing on women's empowerment and heritage conservation. She was the founding President of the Federation of Business and Professional Women Nepal and also served as the president of the Nepal Heritage Society.
