KATHMANDU, Nov 3: Airline companies have hiked the air travel fares citing the escalating price of aviation turbine fuel in recent days.
According to the Airline Operators Association of Nepal (AOAN), the fare has been increased by up to Rs 440 for a one-way trip on the Kathmandu-Dhangadhi route. Similarly, the mountain flight has become expensive by Rs 345 per trip.

On Friday, Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) raised the price of aviation fuel for both domestic and international airlines by Rs 10 per liter. At the revised rates, the aviation fuel for domestic airlines now costs Rs 96 per liter while that for the international airlines costs USD 853 per kiloliter.
At the new airfare rates, passengers traveling from Kathmandu to Bhadrapur need to pay an additional Rs 300 on an average. Likewise, the flight to Biratnagar has become expensive by Rs 240, Janakpur by Rs 130, Pokhara by Rs 155, Bhairahawa by Rs 205, Nepalgunj by Rs 330, Surkhet by Rs 345, Tumlingtar by Rs 185 and Rajbiraj by Rs 205.
According to the AOAN, the Civil Aviation Authority Nepal has endorsed the new rates to come into effect from Tuesday. Last time, airline companies hiked the airfares in March.
