Agreement between Maoist and UDMF against law:Ghimire

KATHMANDU, Sept 18: Demanding time at Sunday´s meeting of the Legislature-Parliament, Nepali Congress Chief Whip Laxman Ghimire said the agreement between the UCPN (Maoist) and the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) was against the rule of law.



He called on the Prime Minister to reply at the parliament regarding the views of the Attorney General on withdrawal of cases, and asked why the PM’S views that employees will not be transferred, was not implemented.[break]



He, however, expressed NC’s commitment for peace process and the new constitution.



Janardan Sharma of the UCPN (Maoist) said the relief program of the government for the people was good, and urged the government to implement it.



He demanded compensation and relief program for the victimized families from the landslides that killed 40 people in the country so far including the one in Rolpa.



He called on the opposition to cooperate in finalizing peace process and urged the government to provide Dashain expenses in advance for the combatants.



CPN-UML’s Bishnu Rimal demanded implementation of agreements by FNCCI with three trade unions and urged to provide increased salaries to the workers.



He said his party would cooperate from the opposition, but asked why the home secretary was transferred.



Meanwhile, Minister for Forest and Soil Conservation Mohammad Wakil Musalman has informed the Legislature-Parliament members that the government has given due priority for the forest conservation drive.



Responding to the queries raised by the lawmakers under the Ministry of Forest and Soil Conservation while speaking on the Appropriation Bill-2068 B.S., Minister Musalman said the government is planning for policy change of community forests.



Urging the political parties to conserve the forests, he informed the House that the government has also given top priority for the Chure area conservation.



He said the government had unveiled a strategy for building necessary infrastructure for the forest conservation.



Minister for Youth and Sports Kamala Roka has said that the government is committed to implementing the sports and youth policy effectively while speaking at the parliament.



Responding to the queries raised by lawmakers under different topics of the Ministry on Appropriation Bill- 2068 B.S., Minister Roka said self-employment training will be given to 1,000 youths under the Youth Self-employment Program.



She said each VDC will be provided with Rs 10,000 for sports development, and claimed that this will bring about massive change in the development of sports sector across the country.



She said efforts are underway to find resources for the construction of national and international level stadiums for the infrastructure development of the sports sector.



She informed the House that the Ministry was planning to draft a new policy for the overall development of sports in the country.
