KATHMANDU, June 12: After winning the second consecutive title of Martyrs Memorial Football League, Nepal Police Club coach Birat Krishna Shrestha wants to enjoy watching the World Cup. However, the successful coach knows his duty and wishes to finish the ongoing domestic league undefeated.

"NPC have the last league match against New Road Team. After winning the title, I want to finish the season undefeated," said Shrestha. "Besides, I want to celebrate NPC´s win and enjoy the World Cup in a relaxed mood," said one of the most successful coaches in domestic football. [break]

"I´ll support England in this World Cup; I really love them," said Shrestha.

Shrestha is the most vocal Nepali coach, who can explain his strategies eloquently.

Shrestha took charge of NPC in 2006 and won the domestic league in the very first season. The domestic league had then been halted since as All Nepal Football Association engaged in internal squabbles.

However, Shrestha led NPC in the AFC President´s Cup three times and guided them to the final in 2007. NPC is the only club that Shrestha has officially taken charge of.

"I want to give credit to the players for all the success," said Shrestha. "They are dedicated to the game. Though many of my boys are injured this season, they are mentally fit," he explained.

"We make a strategy and play our game. If we fail, we do not let others play their game. We don´t want to give our opponents time and space to play their game," said Shrestha. "NPC suffered a lot from injury problems in the ongoing league. However, our opponents could not come strong," he added.

He has pride in coaching the Police team. "To coach NPC is a matter of pride for any coach and I have more reasons to take pride since I did it successfully," said Shrestha.

Shrestha wants to look after a mid-table team if he has to leave NPC. "As a departmental and leading team, NPC always wants win and I can´t experiment more often. If I get any mid-table team, I can show more of my work," explained Shrestha.

"However, I have a dream of winning the AFC President´s Cup. Three years ago, we have proved that Nepali Clubs are not underdogs and I want to prove it by winning the title," said Shrestha.

Shrestha started his coaching career in 1989. He visited several districts and taught footballing skills to many as a National Sports Council staff coach.

He looked after NRT and RCT on several occasions but never officially took charge.

He was the assistant coach for the national side in 1997 under coach Bhim Thapa. He took charge of the national side for the AFC Challenge Cup in 2008 on the request of ANFA.

"I didn´t want to show my bias towards ANFA leadership and took charge of the national side. However, it ended unsuccessfully," said Shrestha.
