Nepal is hosting the ACC Twenty20 Cricket Tournament from December 3 at the TU Cricket Ground and the Pulchowk Engineering Ground.[break]
Besides Nepal, nine other countries are participating in the tournament. The top three teams along with Afghanistan will make it to the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifiers to be held in the United Arab Emirates in early 2012.
According to Ashok Pyakurel, the general secretary of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), most of the participating teams will arrive in Nepal by December 1 while Afghanistan will arrive 4-5 days earlier due to their flight schedule.
“They (Afghanistan) have asked us to arrange friendly matches but there is little possibility. We are doing the paper works to conduct the friendlies,” Pyakurel said.
Pyakurel, who is also the spokesperson for CAN, added that the national team would be announced soon.
The UAE, Hong Kong and Afghanistan have already announced their squads for the tournament.
Afghanistan, the winner of the first two editions of the tournament, has gained one-day international (ODI) status from the International Cricket Council and ranks highest among the six associate nations.
