Trauma resulting from road accidents is considered leading cause of deaths in Nepal. A trauma center provides complex, multi-disciplinary treatment, including neurosurgery and orthopedic surgery, in order to give victims the best possible chance of survival and recovery. Hundreds of accident victims die every year in Nepal as they don´t get trauma care services in time.
It is estimated that more than 450 employees are needed to run the center. The 200-beded modern trauma center is being constructed with the support from the government of India at an expenditure of Rs 1.5 billion.
