KATHMANDU, July 8: Manoj Muntashir Shukla, the writer of the controversial Bollywood movie, Adipurush, has offered a public apology.

Despite initially refusing to apologize amidst criticisms of the movie's misrepresentation of orthodox Hinduism and inaccurate portrayal of characters from the Ramayana, the writer has finally expressed remorse after a month.

Acknowledging the hurt sentiments caused by Adipurush, Shukla took to Twitter to extend his sincere apology to all his fellow brothers and sisters, senior citizens, respected sages, and devotees of Shree Ram. He wrote, "I deeply regret any offense caused and seek the blessings of Lord Bajrangbali for unity, strength, and unwavering service to our sacred, eternal, and magnificent nation."

The controversy surrounding the film led to its ban in Nepal, primarily triggered by a dialogue in the movie trailer stating that Goddess Sita, a revered figure in Hindu mythology, is a daughter of India. This assertion sparked strong reactions among Nepalis, as historical accounts confirm Sita's birthplace in Janakpur, Nepal.

Additionally, due to problematic dialogues penned by Shukla and subpar visual effects, several legal cases were filed against the film in Indian courts for its misrepresentation of Ramayana characters.

Despite making some corrections to the dialogue that contained inappropriate language, the negative response from Shukla to the criticisms contributed to the film's failure, resulting in a significant financial loss.
