Secretary Krishna Hari Banskota from the Prime Minister’s Office broke the fasting by offering juices to the agitating couple following a three-point agreement made between the couple and the government talk team headed by Baskota.[break]
The agreement includes arresting and taking action against those involved in the incident, providing appropriate compensation to the victims and making necessary arrangement of rehabilitation and security to the victim family.
The efforts of the government and rights activists to persuade them to break their fast-unto-death have finally succeeded.The couple had earlier maintained that they would strike only after the two other main culprits were arrested to ensure that the government was fully committed to taking action against the guilty in the murder of Krishna Prasad Adhikari,18, back in 2004.
Earlier on Friday, police had arrested Ram Prasad Adhikari, one of the 11 accused in the murder of Krishna Prasad Adhikari, son of the agitating couple, from Bagbazaar, Kathmandu.
