KATHMANDU, April 16: The small parties in parliament have succeeded in their bid to gain more concessions from the government. The small parties, who are already drawing more than Rs. 50,000 a month from the state coffers, will now be able to draw more.

“Based on the discussion with seventeen small parties, the government has already decided to provide [additional] facilities to one main official from each of the parties,” said Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, addressing the parliament meeting on Wednesday.

Small parties, most of which have one or two seats in the parliament, will get a vehicle, a driver and fuel, adding a burden of least Rs 20,000 on the national treasury.

In their joint statement issued last week, the small parties had not mentioned their demand for vehicles.
