KATHMANDU, Jan 19: Acting Prime Minister Purna Bahadur Khadka held discussions on Thursday with key officials regarding the overall situation in the country.
The meeting took place on Thursday at the Ministry of Defence, with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Narayan Kaji Shrestha; Chief Secretary Dr. Baikuntha Aryal; Chief of Army Staff, Prabhu Ram Sharma; Home Secretary Dinesh Bhattarai; Acting Defence Secretary; Nepal Police Chief Basanta Bahadur Kunwar; Armed Police Force Chief Raju Aryal; and Additional Chief Investigation Director of the National Investigation Department.

During the meeting, the officials briefed the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence on the security preparations and the overall security situation, with a focus on the upcoming National Assembly elections scheduled for January 25.
The Acting Prime Minister underlined the need for prompt and reliable security arrangements, especially considering the upcoming upper house elections. He highlighted that security is a multi-dimensional aspect and should be addressed accordingly with special consideration.
Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Shrestha urged the authorities to give special attention to security arrangements in light of the elections, taking into account potential challenges, despite the overall normalcy in the country.
