KATHMANDU, Sept 17: Nepali Congress Vice-president Ram Chandra Poudel has accused UCPN (Maoist) of trying to push ahead the peace process, ignoring past pacts the party has made with other political parties.

Speaking at a program in Bhaktapur on Saturday, the NC vice-chairman said his party has not created any hurdles in the peace process but just wanted to remind Maoists of the past agreements. [break]

“The opposition has not done anything that would make things difficult for the government,” Paudel said, adding all that his party wanted to see was the implementation of the past pacts.

On the occasion, he also expressed his view that the country should not have two armies for a long time and added that the peace process and constitution writing would never be completed unless all traces of the insurgency were wiped out.
