ACC Women’s Asia Cup: Nepal wins toss, invites UAE to bat first

KATHMANDU, July 19: Nepal faces the UAE in the opening match of the ACC Women’s Asia Cup today. After winning the toss, Nepal chose to bowl first.


The tournament runs from July 18 to 28, with Group 'A' matches featuring Nepal, the UAE, India, and Pakistan. Group 'B' includes Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Thailand. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, leading to the final on July 28.

The opener began at 2:15 PM Nepali time in Dambulla, Sri Lanka. India will play against Pakistan at 7:15 PM at the same venue.


Nepal qualified for the tournament through the ACC Women’s Premier Cup in Malaysia. Led by Indu Barma, Nepal’s squad includes notable players like Rubina Chhetri, Sita Rana Magar, and Bindu Rawal.


Nepal’s upcoming matches are against Pakistan on July 21 and against India on July 23. Prior to the tournament, they played practice matches in Sri Lanka, winning one out of three. Nepal previously participated in the 2012 and 2016 tournaments.
