KATHMANDU, Oct 28: Nepal, which secured its place for the next year's ICC U-19 World Cup, is looking for the best option to meet the challenges of the World Cup to be held in Bangladesh from January 22 to February 14 next year.

Coach of the youth team, Jagat Tamata, who guided his side to the World Cup, has stressed on the need for sending the team to India or Bangladesh to prepare for the grand event.

Nepal qualified for the finals beating European side Ireland in the final match of the ICC U-19 World Cup Qualifiers held in Malaysia from October 15-22.

Nepal remained unbeaten in the qualifiers as it beat Papua New Guinea by nine wickets, Uganda by 171 runs, the USA by six wickets and Ireland by eight wickets in the league match before beating Ireland by three wickets in the final.

After qualifying for the U-19 World Cup, Nepal is focused on producing the best result in Bangladesh next year.

Coach Tamata said that playing World Cup is the biggest challenge for his side. He also said that he was looking for the best option to meet the challenges.

"We will play against Test-playing nations in the World Cup and that will be the biggest challenge for the team," said Tamata, adding that his team is planning to meet all the challenges.

"We have more than two months to prepare for the World Cup and if we go in a planned way we can produce good results," he said.

Tamata also informed that he has presented a plan to Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) for the preparation and if CAN executes the plan, the team could do a lot better in the event.

"I have been planning to start the closed-camp training from November 9 or 10 and send the team to India (New Delhi) or Bangladesh where Nepal will get acclimatized for the World Cup," said coach Tamata.

Coach Tamata wants to send his side for the foreign training at the end of December or at the beginning of January for nearly 15 to 20 days so that his players could get a chance to play at least six/seven practice matches.

This is the seventh time that Nepal has qualified for the youth World Cup. Previously, it played the finals in 2000 in Bangladesh, 2002 in New Zealand, 2004 in Bangladesh, 2006 in Sri Lanka, 2008 in Malaysia and 2012 in Australia. However, Nepal had failed to qualify for the youth event held in the UAE last year.

Even this time, Nepal had failed to qualify at the first attempt after finishing runner-up in the ACC U-19 Premier League held in Kuwait last year. However, it got a second chance to qualify for the World Cup after lifting the title of the ICC U-19 World Cup Qualifiers in Malaysia and made it to the finals for the seventh time.

"Since we failed to make it to the finals for the UAE last year, we were prepared not to repeat the failure and produced best results in the qualifiers in Malaysia in all three disciplines - batting, bowling and fielding," said Tamata.

Tamata also hinted that there could hardly be any change in the team that earned the World Cup berth.

"We will make changes in the team only if we get extra-ordinary players, otherwise the squad will be nearly the same to the one that travelled to Malaysia," said Tamata, who added that the team is one of the best for the event. "They only need match exposure and if we send the team to foreign training, that problem will also be solved."
