NEPALGUNJ, March 17: About 25 Nepali women are languishing in Baharaich jail of India, Indian officials told Nepali security officers who were in Rupedia for a meeting.

The women are serving the jail terms for minor crimes but the Indian jail authorities have not been able to release them because the inmates’ relatives have not gone there to receive them. The charges are minor like selling of home-made liquor.

“If their relatives come to receive them, we can release them immediately,” Chief District Officer of Banke Ganesh Bahadur Khatri said, quoting Indian officials.
