KATHMANDU, Jan 7: Nepali Congress has stressed the need to scrap the provision of prime minister working as patron of Pashupati Area Development Trust. An informal meeting of the party’s central leaders decided to stand against present system to keep the religion out of country’s political affairs. “We demand that the system of prime minister appointing and deposing the priests in the temple should be abolished to let the temple evolve as purely a religious trust,” a press release issued by the party’s central office stated.
