A police squad which was mobilized following a tip-off on an abduction was fired many rounds at the abductors while trying to free Shambhu Yadav of Dhumari-2 of Siraha district.
Yadav was abducted from his home.
There were two abductors, the police said.
Police said that they opened fire in retaliation. The abductors fired bullets targeting us when we were following them, said the police.
The abductors fled leaving Yadav behind after the clash.
Police recovered a motorcycle (Sa 1 Pa 4747) and a home-made rifle from the spot.
No casualties were reported.
