Police dug out the body of Chiranjivi Mahashet from a wheat field at Ekdanda of the district on Monday.
Mahashet, a student at Amar Gyan English Boarding School, was strangled to death, the police said. His mother Anju Devi has fallen unconscious upon hearing the news of the murder of her eight-year-old son. Her neighbors too have been shocked by the tragic news. The entire village is mourning the boy's death.
The victim's father, Rabindra Mahaset, said a minor dispute between him and some local drug users could be the reason for the gruesome murder of his son. Mahaset, who is also the chairman of a committee to celebrate the Mahabir Flag Fair scheduled to be held in the village next week, had asked the youths not to collect additional donation for drugs.
"They threatened me instead, of grave consequences, for objecting to orchestra and dance in the fair," he complained. The victim had gone missing the same night on which the father had dispute with the youths.
Superintendent of Police Janak Bhattarai informed that the boy's body was found buried in a wheat field of Rup Narayan Sada of Eddanda-7. The district police chief added that Anish Kumar Shah, who was arrested on suspicion, has confessed to the crime and revealed the location of the body during investigation. Anish earlier tried to mislead the police due to which they had to go to Sursanda and Sitamadhi of India in the search of the boy.
Meanwhile, the police made public three people accused of being involved in the gruesome murder. Organizing a press meet on Tuesday, the District Police Office Mahottari made public Anish Kumar Shah, 19, of Bhataulia-3, Sudhir Kumar Shah, 21, of Bhataulia-2 and Saabir Ansari, 18, of Bhataulia-1. The police claimed that all the accused have confessed to kidnapping the child for money. They later killed him after he started to cry.
