Aaha-Rara increases prize money

POKHARA, Jan 17: Host Sahara Club has increased the prize amount for the 14th Aaha-Rara Gold Cup, that will kick off at the Pokhara Stadium in Pokhara from Tuesday. With the increase in prize money, the winner and runner-up will take home Rs 501,001 and Rs 251,001 respectively.

Organizing a press meet in Pokhara on Sunday, the host informed about the increment. The winner and runner-up of the last edition had claimed Rs 351,000 and Rs 201,000 respectively.Sahara Club's president Bir Bhadra Acharya said that the prize amount was increased to motivate the players after the sponsor, Himshree Foods, increased the amount of sponsorship.

Similarly, the best player of the tournament will get a scooter while highest scorer will get Rs 25,000.

Likewise, player of the tournament, best goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, striker and coach will bag Rs 15,000 each.

Altogether 12 teams are taking part in the tournament that will conclude on January 30.

Ruslan Three Star Club, Laxmi Hyundai Manang Marshyangdi Club, Nepal APF Club, Tribhuvan Army Club, Nepal Police Club, Jawlakhel Youth Club, Nava Janajagriti Youth Club of Simara, Rumpum Jhapa XI, host Sahara Club, Gorkha Brigade Team of Indian Army, United Sikkim FC of India and Rahamadgunj MF Society Team of Bangladesh will take part in the tournament.

According to the host, United Sikkim is a second-tier club, while Rahamadgunj is an A division club from Bangladesh.
