A woman dies in a jeep accident in Jumla

JUMLA, Jan 16: A woman died when a Tata sumo jeep met with an accident in Patarasi Rural Municipality-6 of Jumla district.

JUMLA, Jan 16: A woman died when a Tata sumo jeep met with an accident in Patarasi Rural Municipality-6 of Jumla district.


District Police Office Jumla said that the ill-fated jeep with registration number GA-1-JA-4035 was traveling from Jumla Bazar to Patarasi when it met with the accident at 3:30 pm on Monday.

The preliminary investigation of the police estimates that the jeep fell down 39 meters from the road after it failed to climb uphill.


In the accident, Chorten Lama, 42, of Patarasi Rural Municipality-1 died on the spot. Nine others traveling on the jeep sustained injuries.


The injured passengers were rescued by the locals and the police and are being treated at Karnali Institute of Health Sciences, Jumla. The police said that the driver of the vehicle had been absconding. Police said further investigation into the case is underway.
