A reflection of village culture

ILLAM, Dec 26: Jubiliant Elite Academy, with the initiation of its students, organized a cultural exhibition at the school premises on Saturday and Sunday. The exhibit featured household materials that were used in the villages in ancient times.

ILLAM, Dec 26: Jubiliant Elite Academy, with the initiation of its students, organized a cultural exhibition at the school premises on Saturday and Sunday. The exhibit featured household materials that were used in the villages in ancient times. 


Yogurt making instruments lazim, (Theki) and Tolang, manaa and coins dating back to 1880 were put on display. Extinct instruments including dali, thunse, dhakar, karuwa, khoonda, dhal, tarbar, katti, harpey and musical instrument used by people from the Dhami community, dhyangro were also exhibited. Most of the items were hand-made by the students.

The exhibit also featured miniatures of the tarai, hilly and Himalaya regions along with the geographical details of tea gardens at Illam and Kanyam. Principal at the school, Bhushanta Subba, said the exhibition aimed at reflecting ancient culture and history. “The main objective is to let the children learn about our past in a participatory manner. The school family is glad that our students were successful in presenting such a beautiful exhibition,” said Subba.


He further informed that the artifacts and instruments used in the exhibition were collected by the students.
