KATHMANDU, April 22: The CPN-UML and the Maoist Center converged to mark the establishment of Nepal Communist Party and the birthday of Lenin at National Hall, Exhibition road.
But before the program was even set to start, a dispute revolved: the banner only commemorated 69th year of establishing Nepal Communist Party. What further caused the dispute was the banner’s picture: KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal covered the flex, not Marx or Lenin.
Cadres close to Maoist Center chanted slogans after the banner failed to keep Marx and Lenin in the banner. Following the protest, the banner was removed.
Before the program was set to start, Barshaman Pun, minister of Energy had questioned, “Where’s the photo of our Gurus?”
