In 2062BS, the government had brought the concept of outer ring road in a bid to make the Kathmandu Valley settlement systematic.Project Chief, Rama Maiya Manandhar, informed the National News Agency (RSS) that out of 72-kilometre ring road, survey of 35.08 kilometre in Kathmandu, 15.80 kilometre in Lalitpur and 21.05 kilometre in Bhaktapur had been conducted.
Arrangement of separate lane for cycle is mandatory in the outer ring road with eight-lanes and 50 kilometre width.
Manandhar further shared that a systematic settlement would be developed in 62,000 ropanis of land integrating 250 metres on either sides of the outer ring road.
The ring road will go through Bagmati (Chobhar), Gamcha, Satungal, Naikap-purano Bhanjyang, Sitapaila, Nagarjundanda, Nepaltar, Gongabu, Tokha, Chapali, Kapan, Jagdol, Sandol and Thalidanchhi area of the Kathmandu district while the places it rambles in Lalitpur are Lubhu, Taiba, Dhapakhel, Thecho, Bungamati and Chovar in Lalitpur.
Similarly, the areas it encircle the valley from Bhaktapur are Gamfedi, Pakaunepati, Bansbari, Yangdol, Masandol, Bhatedhikuro, Natathimi and Dadhikot.
As many as 34 bridges should be constructed to link the outer ring road while 47 roads to link with existing ring road, added Manandhar.
The preliminary cost estimated for the construction of outer ring road is Rs 6.36 billion. RSS
