Windstorm batters norther Gorkha, forces locals to take shelter in cave

GORKHA, March 23: A heavy cyclone is raging in the Kerauja, northern VDC of the district since seven am on Wednesday.

Due to the heavy windstorm, the locals have been forced to take shelter in a nearby cave.

According to a local Amrit Ghale, the violent windstorm has been raging since seven am today.



"A violent windstorm has been blowing in Kerauja VDC since seven am today," Ghale said, " it has blown away all the tarpaulin and zinc sheets. We are now taking shelter due to fear of being struck by stone and wood. The exam scheduled for Wednesday in Kejaura Secondary school has been postponed," Ghale told Republica Online.

The school which was being run in shanties flown the Gorkha earthquake have been blown away.

Sani Ghale and Ram Gurung of Kejaura VDC-1 have been injured.


Hit by stone and zinc sheets, they are receiving treatment at Kerauja Health Post.

There are around 465 households in Kerauja VDC. All of them have been staying temporary shelters followng the Gorkha earthquake that devasted  Nepal on April 25 last year.
