KATHMANDU, Jan 11: On Friday (January 8), actors Rekha Thapa and Jeetu Nepal inaugurated the newly constructed Shree Ishwari Mala Primary School in Sindhupalchowk District. The school was destroyed in the April earthquake last year and it was rebuilt again with the help of the 'Hami Uthne Chhau' foundation. The foundation raised over Rs 2.1 million with the help of residents of China, Hong Kong, and Macau.

The actors handed over the new school to the school management committee during the inauguration ceremony. The new school building has classrooms, bathrooms, and an office.

Actor Thapa stated that people shouldn't just depend on donor agencies but that the local youth should also initiate definitive action. "It's important that every citizen does his best to develop the nation," said the actor who also sang a song from her upcoming film 'Ram Pyari' at the request of the audience.

The foundation has also established a fund of Rs 300,000 to help the education of poor and hardworking students.
