DANG, Jan 7: At least seven people died and 10 sustained severe injuries in a head-on collision involving a school bus and a microbus, at Suadikula road segment of Dang district on Wednesday morning.
Five of the dead have been identified as one-year-old Hemanta Bista of Kabhra-6, Salyan; Shabnam Ansari, 36, of Tripura-1; driver Dhan Bahadur Thapa, 36, of Manpur-7; Kimini Khadka of Ranigaun; and Bishnu Bista. The authorities have yet to determine the identities of the two others killed in the accident, according to police.

All the critically injured are being treated at Kohalpur Medical College. Twenty-two people who sustained minor injuries are currently undergoing treatment at Banke Hospital.
According to eyewitness, the microbus, which was en route to Ghorahi from Tulsipur, was overcrowded and speeding when it collided with the bus.

Similarly, two people died and one sustained severe injuries when a tractor met with an accident at Chhatishkot-5 of Narayan Municipality in Dailekh district the same day.
The deceased were identified as Indra Bahadur Thapa, 56, and Jyoti Rana Magar, 36, both residents of Toli-3, according to the police. Thapa died on the spot while Magar died on the way to hospital.
Laxmi Koirala, 50, of Narayan Municipality was seriously injured in the Dailekh crash. Although she was taken to Dailekh District Hospital at first, she was later referred to Kohalpur Medical College for further treatment. The ill-fated tractor was heading to Toli VDC of the district from Dailekh bazaar.
