KATHMANDU, March 4:Tourism Minister Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai on Wednesday directed the bodies concerned to establish an 'action team' at Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) and Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) to carry out study on the impact of coronavirus (COVID-19) on tourism sector and the measures to be taken in this regard.
During a discussion organized at his ministry, the minister urged the stakeholders concerned to take effective measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus outbreak. He said that MoCTCA is ready to take any policy-level decision to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Bhattarai appealed to the organizations working in the field of tourism to send their suggestions to the ministry within three days for the prevention of the coronavirus.
"The government has maintained high alert at the TIA in view of the possible outbreak of the coronavirus. We are planning to set up health desks at other airports too," he said.
On the occasion, the minister urged the tourism entrepreneurs not to panic and run their businesses as usual.
