Since the trade blockade imposed by India, there has been colossal growth in the sale of fuel in black market, where a liter of diesel can cost up to Rs 250 and petrol Rs 350. However, no action has been taken against the people involved in such illegal activity.Meanwhile, the DAO itself has been selling fuel on a regular basis charging Rs 115 for a liter of diesel.
According to the locals, black marketing in fuel has flourished massively in Bijaynagar, Kalekholi, Larma, Kudari, Raralihi and Nagma VDCs.
In Nepalgunj, a liter of petrol costs Rs 106 and a liter of diesel Rs 80. But in the black market, buyers pay nearly twice the amounts.
Not only petroleum products, black marketing has even affected the price of food products in Jumla.
Meanwhile, Chief District Officer Dependra Raj Pokharel said he is unaware of any illegal trade in fuel in the district. He assured of taking action if such activities occur in Jumla.
"I have not seen any black marketing of petroleum products. If I find anyone involved in such activity, I will take actions." said Pokharel.
