KATHMANDU, Sept 13: Have you ever been around the world in 80 days? Adapting the theme of “Around the World in 80 Days”, the novel written by Jules Verne and first published in 1873, Gokarna Resort has picked Phileas Fogg, the prime character of the book, who is said to have stopped in eight different countries while traveling to some more within the said 80 days. And now Gokarna has succeeded assembling the stalls of eight respective countries where Fogg had stopped, and exhibits the authentic tastes of those said countries.



At the month-long food festival in Gokarna Forest Resort, varieties from the US, the UK, China, Hong Kong, Japan, and Egypt, India, and European countries are served en masse with spices that will drive you crazy and will compel your appetite to ask for more.



Healthy for the heart, the beetroot from the US is fresh to try on. If you’re just looking for fresh greens, then its iceberg lettuce that you should not miss to have. French fries may be too common for your eyesight but you’ll be mesmerized to see and taste German sausages that certainly look and taste yummy. Many who stick to traditional beliefs of Nepal may not like the idea to go for beef barbeque, but for those who volunteer, it’s a must have. If not even that, then you can simply get into chicken breast barbeque marinated and roasted along with sesame sauce and white wine; or how about making it unique by opting for chicken jeweler, which is barbequed with Bordeaux sauce and fresh mushroom? Caesar’s Salad is healthy while hotdogs are large and big in taste.







If you’re already enough with American food and want to become experimental, popular Japanese cuisines like sushi, yakitori and yaksova (spaghetti with bacon cabbage) are high on recommendation. In the meantime, you can get your dear ones have fun with chicken swarma and khabash (lamb and eggplant with rice) from the Suez in Egypt. You will neither be disappointed nor hungry if you go with the true taste of Hakka noodles, cucumber salad and patchouli with black mushroom – dishes from Hong Kong and China. Banger and mash from the UK is light to eat while fish and chips can fill up your tummy. Ladyfingers may not be anything to you but the Egyptian way of presenting it in okara saluna food recipe is interesting to try. Forget about the calories for a day at least as you won’t be able to stop yourself as you go by cheese salad and barbeque pork sausages.
