KATHMANDU, Jan 24: Political advisor to President Bidya Devi Bhandari Sushil Pyakurel stepped down from his post on Friday.
Pyakurel, who is also a prominent human rights activist, tendered his resignation to President Bhandari. Issuing a press statement, Pyakurel said that he worked for four years as the advisor to the president since Bhandari came to power in 2015.
In the statement, he said he would become active in his professional life and work in the promotion of democratic norms and values and rule of law in the country in the coming days. "I did not just want to limit myself to this administrative job," he further stated.
Meanwhile, President Bhandari also approved his resignation to be effective from today itself, the president's office stated.
