Jailed Maoist on fast onto death

JANAKPUR, Sept 4: A local leader of the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) who was arrested for attacking Chief District Officer (CDO) of Mahottari on Wednesday started a fast onto death on Friday.



In-charge of the Maoists´ Jaleshwar Municipality committee Devendra Chaudhary was arrested after he attacked CDO Sagar Mani Parajuli with a chair while submitting a memorandum on Wednesday.



Chaudhary has pleaded not to repeat similar incident in the future and asked the CDO to free him. But Parajuli said Chaudhary will face action under Public Offense Act.



Maoist cadres on Friday shut down Jaleshwar bazaar demanding Chaudhary´s release.
