Safety directive for female journalists launched

KATHMANDU, Sept 3: A safety directive for female journalists prepared by Sancharika Samuha, an umbrella organization of female journalists, advises them to be careful about the time they go out to report news.



"If female journalists need to go out alone, they should inform their organization and families about where they are going and whom they are meeting to avoid unnecessary risks," reads the directive launched on Thursday.

Launching the directive during a program organized in the capital on Thursday, Minister for Information and Technology Minendra Risal urged all female journalists not to tolerate any kind of harassment within their news organization.


He even added that the state will adopt stringent measures of punishment if anyone is found of misbehaving and harassing female journalists. The safety directive was prepared with the support of UNESCO and International Media Support.
