170 prison escapees on the lam

SINDHUPALCHOWK, July 23: 170 inmates, who fled the District Prison taking advantage of the April 25 earthquake, are still out of contact.

They have disobeyed a public notice issued by the prison administration to report. There were 216 jailbirds when the earthquake struck.


"Only, 46 are in contact, all others are on the run," jailor Om Prakash Subedi told Myrepublica, "Police have been fanned out for arrest."

Four Pakistani inmates reported to the District Police Office after the quake. Subedi said those on the lam will be charged with an addition case for fleeing.

Those out of contact were doing time for murder, human trafficking, drugs and gold smuggling among other heinous crimes.
