KATHMANDU, Aug 26: As the short hand of the clock approaches six in the evening, Sabitra Rai, a street vendor, pulls out items from a bag of clothes and spreads them at the corner of the Boudha gate. Like her, there are hundreds of streets vendors in different corners of the Vvalley selling clothes, shoes, books et al.[break] In the process, they, who have turned the streets into shoppers´ paradise.

Pedestrians curse them for their inconsiderate selection of places for their business; municipality personnel time and again raid and chase away these street vendors for encroaching on the pavements. And yet people thrive in these areas with an attempt to find something for them.

Unlike a few months back, good and stylish stuffs can be noticed on the streets these days. And even youngsters once transfixed by items found only in big fancy shops,; at least a few of them, can be seen rummaging in the piles of clothes or bags by the on street sides.

Defying the popular misconception that only people with low incomes visit such vendors, Sabitra says, Even well- dressed youngsters with nice hairdos buy tees, shorts and trousers from my place. She informs that good stuffs in her bags have already been sold out for this month.

Though a replica, Burberry print tote was never so inexpensive. G, golden Vans (shoes) which aren´t even available in the major shops (FYI silver and golden shoes are happening colors for footwear), are found being sold by the vendors in Sundhara. FYI, silver and golden shoes are happening colors for footwear this season.

And the choices and prices of the items on the streets of Kathmandu can overwhelm anyone.
