Major parties agree to share committee chairs

KATHMANDU, Jan 12: Major parties in the Constituent Assembly have agreed to share posts of chairpersons of various committees in the CA and parliament. As per the agreement reached among CPN (Maoist), Maoists will head seven committees, Nepali Congress and CPN-UML five each and Madhesi People’s Rights Forum will head three committees out of 24 committees in the CA and the parliament. Tarai Madhes Democratic Party, CPN-ML and Rastriya Prajatantra Party will get chance to head one committee each. Speaker of the parliament, Subas Nembang will be ex-officio chairman of Security Special Committee in the parliament.  CA has 14 committees including Constitutional Committee and parliament has 10 committees.
