Loud & Live

Loud and Live is one of the many restaurants in Jhamsikhel but if you happen to be in the area, you should certainly give it a try.

Once you enter the premises, you will notice a tree right in the middle of, what the staff call, the garden area. There are plenty of tables and chairs there with a little podium for those who want to sit cross-legged right next to the music space. That space is taken up by local bands every Wednesday evening till Saturday when they perform a medley of Nepali, Hindi, and English songs.

The place comes alive in the evenings with the usual hustle and bustle, live music and the fabric stretched across the ceiling lights up in bright colors. Painted by one of the owners, the cloth serves as a respite from the heat streaming through the tin roof while adding aesthetic value to the place.

The restaurant can house more than a 100 guests. Walk up and you can take a seat in a nook by the stairs, or head straight to the lounge where there are comfortable sofas. The terrace is the perfect place when you're sipping on a beverage, accompanied by a friend, and watching the world go by.

Now let's talk about the food. We recommend you go for the Kings Chicken which costs Rs 350. You can share this with a friend. The chicken is covered in batter and fried, and tossed around with spring onions, capsicum, green chilies, onions and dried red chilies, and liberally sprinkled with sesame seeds. On the side of the plate, there will be an unassuming salad; wisps of cucumbers, carrots and radishes mixed with a concoction of honey and sugar syrup, and dusted with sesame seeds. That salad is really delicious being crunchy, sweet and slightly vinegary.

The momos at the restaurant are also popular with the guests. While they only serve buff and chicken momos, you can eat them steamed, sandheko, or try the Momocha in Jhol. The Chicken Momo Sandheko is Rs 250. It is not extraordinary but your taste buds will still love the steamed momo that is mixed with onions, chilies, spring onions, garlic, etc.

Chicken and wild boar meat are barbequed everyday from five in the evening in a corner of the garden area. Between Rs 500 to Rs 600, guests can choose from BBQ Chicken Wings, BBQ Chicken Breast and BBQ Wild Boar.

There might not be a lot of dishes to choose from the menu but if you walk into Loud and Live, you will definitely have a good time.
