Tourism sector appeals for national industry status

KATHMANDU, Aug 5: Travel and tour entrepreneurs have appealed to the government to recognize tourism sector as a national industry and provide Nepal Airlines Corporation with at least four aircraft to boost the country´s travel trade.



A delegation of Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA), led by its president Ram Kaji Kone, put forth the demands to Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal on Tuesday.



During the meeting, the travel and tour entrepreneurs also requested the government to immediately implement Road Accident Insurance Act and make necessary amendments to the clause in tourism and transport acts which bear contradictory meanings of the world ´tourist´.



The delegation also asked for replacement of old taxis in Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu with new taxis or limousines of international standard, among others.
