“Many Nepali readers love reading Sholokhov’s books. Many of his books and short stories have been translated into the Nepali language too. His books revolve around aspects of human psychology, emotions and culture. His works also give the message that we can learn a lot from the historical incidences,” shared Chauhan.
A piece of the movie ‘And Quiet Flows the Don, 1958’ was shown at the end of the lecture series. The movie is based on Sholokhov’s novel.
“The movie is a good representation of the book. The book speaks of the lives of the Russians residing in the banks of River Don during the war time. Their struggles and social life is depicted in the book,” shared Chauhan.
“The lecture on the laureates and the screening of the movie piece was refreshing. We could get a glimpse of Russia and its culture through them,” shared one of the attendees Janardan Dhungana, Chief Librarian at Tribhuvan University Central Library, Kirtipur.
