KATHMANDU, Aug 2: The government has formed a three-member panel to probe alleged financial irregularities by Nepal Police and Armed Police Force (APF) on the procurement of equipment for UN peacekeeping mission.

The panel is headed by economist at the Home Ministry Tanka Paneru with former DIG Amar Singh Shah and legal expert Bhaweshwar Gurung as members.

The procurement was made by the money from Police Welfare Fund on condition that the money would be reimbursed after the UN pays back. Procurements for the last four years have been under suspicion.

The panel has been mandated to probe the suspected areas of welfare fund, petrol pump and sports fund of Nepal Police and APF.
