Children's marathon on Oct 1

KATHMANDU (REPUBLICA): With the view to draw public and political attention on child survival, Hatemalo Sanchar and Save the Children are jointly organizing Race for Survial - World Marathon Challenge 2013 at the Dsharath Stadium on October 1. Altogether 140 children between the age of 11 and 13 years from four different schools of Kathmandu will participate in the race in four different tracks. [break]



Each school teams will have 35 runners. And each team members will pass baton (relay) to their teammates after running a distance of 200 meters to finish the distance of 42.195 km. Sports celebrities of the country Sagar Thapa, Rabin Shrestha, Jharana Gurung, Kanchhi Maya Koju and Sunil Lama will lead the teams. According to a press release issued by Hatemalo Sanchar, the race aims to urge world leaders to take immediate steps to tackle child mortality, hunger and malnutrition.
