Shrestha thanked NSJF for the award. ´There was a time when some people would question if sports journalism was a separate discipline in journalism. But now the scenario has changed drastically, every media -- print and broadcast -- have been giving importance to sports news,´ said Shrestha.

Shrestha was also full of praise for NSJF for popularizing sports in the nation and stressed that a lot more should be done for the development of sports journalism.

Meanwhile, national cricket team coach Pubudu Dassanayake, the winner of NSJF Pulsar Coach of the Year 2069, was awarded with the winner"s trophy on the same occasion. Sri Lankan coach Dassanayake was outside Nepal during the Sports Award held on July 2.

Meanwhile, NSJF conducted its 10th general assembly during the same function. Speaking on the occasion, FNJ President Gaunle stressed the need for integrating sports journalism with society, politics and economy rather than just with the technical aspect of win and defeat.
