7,000 plus houses damaged in KMC

KATHMANDU, May 3: Nearly 7,500 houses have been damaged in the Kathmandu Metropolitan City in the destructive earthquake on April 25 and subsequent aftershocks, according to the Metropolitan City office.

Of them, 1,655 houses were completely damaged while 5,797 houses are partially damaged. Likewise, 23 public buildings and schools were fully damaged and 21 others were partially broken.Similarly, the office of the country's only metropolitan city has been shifted to Rastriya Sabha Griha at Exhibition Road from Bagdurbar.

Meanwhile, Urban Development Department has organized a one-day training programme to the engineers of municipalities in the Kathmandu valley for the risk management of the houses in the town.

Engineer Uttar Regmi said that assessment of the livable houses, risk of the brick-made houses, level of risk of the pillar-houses and loss assessment of the broken houses among other issues were discussed in the training. RSS
